Nicotinell Transdermal Patch

Uses

Relieves and/or prevents cravings and nicotine withdrawal symptoms associated with tobacco dependence. To aid smokers wishing to quit or reduce prior to quitting, assist smokers who are unwilling or unable to smoke, and as a safer alternative to smoking. Suitable for quit attempts during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Available in 3 strengths delivering 21mg (Step 1), 14mg (Step 2) and 7mg (Step 3) nicotine per 24 hours.

Dosage

Adults 18 years and over: smokers of 20 plus cigarettes a day should start with 1 Step 1 patch daily. Those smoking less that 20 cigarettes a day should start with 1 Step 2 patch daily. Each patch should be removed after 24 hours, although pregnant users are advised to remove patches before going to bed. All users should reduce patch strength at intervals of 3-4 weeks. The patches are designed to be used continuously for 3 months, but if abstinence is not achieved at the end of 3 months, further treatments may be recommended. Children and adolescents 12-17 years: medical advice should be sought before use. Under 12 years: not recommended.
