12 years and over: use whenever the urge to smoke is felt or to prevent cravings in situations where these are likely to occur. To use, a cartridge is inserted into the mouthpiece and air is drawn into the mouth through the mouthpiece. Smokers willing or able to stop smoking immediately should initially replace all their cigarettes with the Inhalator and as soon as they are able, reduce the number of cartridges used until they have stopped completely. Smokers aiming to reduce cigarettes should use the Inhalator, as needed, between smoking episodes to prolong smoke-free intervals and with the intention to reduce smoking as much as possible. As soon as they are ready smokers should aim to quit smoking completely. Maximum daily dose: 6 cartridges. When making a quit attempt behavioural therapy, advice and support will normally improve the success rate. Those who have quit smoking, but are having difficulty discontinuing the Inhalator should seek advice from a pharmacist or doctor. Each cartridge can be used for approximately eight 5-minute sessions, with each cartridge lasting approximately 40 minutes of intense use. The more the subject is able to use the Inhalator, the easier it will be to achieve maximum reduction of cigarettes and/or quit smoking completely. See pack leaflet for further dosage information. Under 12 years: not to be used.

Abrupt cessation: Adults (18 years and over): the initial dose is based on the individual`s nicotine dependence. The tablet is used sublingually with a recommended dose of 1 tablet per hour or, for heavy smokers (smoking more than 20 cigarettes per day), 2 tablets per hour. Increasing to 2 tablets per hour may be considered for patients who fail to stop smoking with the one-tablet-per-hour regimen or for those whose nicotine withdrawal symptoms remain so strong as to foresee a relapse. Most smokers require 8 to 12 or 16 to 24 tablets per day, not to exceed 40 tablets. Duration of treatment is individual but up to 3 months is recommended. The nicotine dose should then be gradually reduced, by decreasing the total number of tablets used per day. The treatment should be stopped when the daily consumption is down to 1 or 2 tablets. Adolescents (12-18 year olds): as adult dosage, but treatment should be used for 8 weeks before gradually reducing over 4 weeks. Smoking reduction: use the microtab between smoking episodes to manage the urge to smoke. Adults (18 years and over): a quit attempt should be made when the smoker feels ready but within 6 months. Adolescents (12-18 year olds): only after consulting a healthcare professional. Under 12 years: not to be used.
